Poetry is a piece of writing that sometimes rhymes but doesn't have to. It has stanza wich are like a paragraph for a novel. It has a beat and tells you how they feel or describe something. A poem is talking about a subject that they chose and is thinking of things that remind you of it. For example:

There are many kinds of poems. An acrostic is using a letter for something. Like J- jumpy A-awing c-courageous and do on. There are also concrete poems which are poems made into the shape of what you are writing so for my poem about rain I could make a raindrop. limerick - A limerick is a funny little poem containing five lines. and a huikiu which we already did.
Poetry is kind of like a short story because it doesn’t have full sentences all the time. Poems have moods like they can make you happy, sad, angry, or excited. There are also different styles of poetry an example is haiku. Each type of poem is different like they can have different moods, different reasons like inform, entertain, and persuade, different styles, different tones and different structures.

It is set up into stanzas and might have a refrain. A poem can even be just a few lines. They can put you into different moods as well. They can be happy and cheerful or deep and dark.

Their are many forms of poetry such as Haiku's, Dramatic monologue, free verses, and lots more.To me a poem is a short story that is describing someone or somethings mood. They can also be describing a certain situation. Poems are usually fantasy and don't always make a whole lot of sense. Poems such as haiku's usually do not make sense mainly because a lot of them are not complete sentences.
